Create versus consume via social media

June 14, 2011  |  Blog

Last week, I got to interview to the lovely Jorgen Sundberg, social media genius and founder of Link Humans. (I was kindly introduced to Jorgen via Marianne Cantwell of Free Range Humans Fame and John Williams, author of bestselling Screw Work, Let’s Play. )

Many of my Big Leaping clients are starting their own businesses and portfolio careers. With my journalistic career, I’ve been able to mentor and help people to get into the tradional press but I’m very much a beginner with ‘social media’.

(Althought I’ve been working with the lovely Antonia Chitty over the past few months. Please note she has just launched a scholarship programme which is a fantastic opportunity for those without a lot of cash and need support)

However, I’m always keen to know more so that’s why I was delighted to talk to Jorgen who has recently been hanging out with my hero Leo Babauta of Zenhabits.net and is working with Tony Blair’s personal branding consultant Malcolm Levene.

In this interview Jorgen talks me through the basics of social media but also talks about why it’s so important to be a creator versus consumer in the social media world plus why creating a unique, and sometimes controversial ‘voice’ can get you lots of attention in a virtual world.

I hope you enjoy the interview.
